Scratching at the Window (2026)
Scratching at the Window, documents public windows with graffiti that had been partially erased by city officials. But rather than faithfully reproducing these scenes of expression and erasure, I intentionally “light leaked” the negatives prior to development, stenciling simple forms of light onto the images and further erasing the original marks. I consider these images as opportunities to think about the relationship between making and erasing, the desire to express oneself even with only clumsy marks, and what types of expression are valued and what gets obscured.
